Surface design is used around us in our everyday society today, from wallpaper, textiles and ceramics in our homes to the clothing we wear and the gifts we give and receive. Working with Pickfords’ House Museum Sara has brought an awareness and a new appreciation for Surface design to the public eye. Taking inspiration from floral patterns used on textiles in an early 19th Century quilt, the ‘Church Window’ style boarder and the historical interfacing donated to Pickford’s House in 1969. Sara has created her own her own interior installation called ‘Reveal’ with today’s history revealed in a honeycomb formation on the interior of the installation. You can view a video of the ‘Surface’ exhibition here. |
